I have always enjoyed participating in sport, including netball, tennis, hockey, lacrosse, cricket, pistol shooting
(until it was banned in the UK) and distance running. I still enjoy running, more for fitness now rather than competition.
Regular attendance at a running club in the UK made me aware of the benefits of sports massage, injury recognition and rehabilitation.
In 2006/7 I decided on a complete change of direction from Head of Physics at a private girl's school to
starting a course in Sports Massage and Sports Therapy. Following this, I ran my own business in Cornwall for a few years,
treating sports and non-sporting clients ranging in age from 12 to 80+. In parallel with this, I held exercise classes for
older men and women with medical conditions, mostly linked to overweight/obesity, supported by the local GP surgery.
I recently completed a Masters Degree in Sports Therapy at the University of Gloucestershire building on my
skills and knowledge.
I have volunteered my services at the London Marathon, Eden Project
Marathon and Half Marathon, Truro Half Marathon and very recently, the Guernsey Marathon.
As a graduate Sports Therapist, my areas of competency are:-
- Injury prevention
- Recognition and Evaluation of injuries
- Management and treatment of injuries with onward
referral when appropriate
- Planning and implementation of rehabilitation programmes
